In October 2012, cancer kiss my cooley gave a “Kiss of HOPE” to 6 year old Dylan who was diagnosed with a Medulloblastoma in July of 2012.
Joe Kettner learned of Dylan when he was contacted by someone special he met back in 2009. They met just once, in day hospital at Children’s, while both of their sons were undergoing chemo treatments. She was compelled to reach out in October and make contact again to share Dylan’s story. She explained that she continued to follow the Kettner’s journey; even till this day with the foundation. So Joe reached out to the Full family. He spent some time with Dylan’s mom Laurie to understand how CKMC could help create a special memory for Dylan.
Dylan’s Kiss of Hope started with a family limousine ride into Chicago. His entire family enjoyed a weekend stay in a suite at Mile North Hotel and two days of Navy Pier activities that included Pier Park Rides, Mini Golf, Dinner at Bubba Gump’s, and of course, the Big Ferris Wheel!!
Joe shares, “Dylan’s mom told me he has wanted to ride the big Ferris wheel since before his diagnosis. We were so very happy to provide Dylan and his family with a wonderful weekend full of smiles. He even told mom that “this was the greatest day ever!” We know he’ll have so many more.”
