Central Kansas Medical Center is a two-campus, 99 bed, regional acute care hospital serving a population of 60,000. The primary campus, CKMC, is located in Great Bend. The second campus, St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, is located in Larned, twenty miles southwest of Great Bend. Central Kansas Medical Center was founded by the Dominican Sisters.

CKMC's state-of-the-art technologies include a full laparoscopic system, family birthing rooms, a well-equipped intensive care unit, an emergency room, a Level II nursery, and fixed site MRI and CT equipment. Current offerings include: physical, occupational, and speech rehabilitation, cardio-respiratory, laboratory, skilled nursing care, respite care, ACR approved mammography, and home health and hospice care. Oncology, orthopedic, pulmonology, cardiology, and nephrology outpatient clinics are available at Central Kansas Medical Center.

A 30 bed long-term care unit is in operation at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital.

    A variety of organizations survey CKMC's services for compliance with quality standards. Their accreditation means that CKMC's policies and practices meet their expectations of quality care. They include the Joint Commission on the Accreditations of Health Organizations (JCAHO), College of American Pathologists (CAP), American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Medicare and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Our mammography unit is accredited with FDA/MQSA and ACR.
